If you want to play on the beach - good for you. And here is my suggestion to make it more meaningful:
It's almost shocking that nobody has tried to tackle this yet. At max crafting it takes 4.5 seconds. He says it's just speculation, so please don't misinterpret anything in the video as how it's going to be. Official names for these skills from Status Reports are "Rough" and "Fine" skills. Whatever the path they go with, I'd also discuss about how will the players be able to go around this and exploit or even hack these, just for the sake of preventing it as much as possible. Obviously there are a lot of MMO that have a skill system that allows you to customise your character over time. Stop wasting dev time on that, this game is so much behind schedule and probably will never be what people anticipated it to be ... better use time on other aspects than a pseudo skill system noone really needs. I honestly don't know why anyone would have a problem with adding a non combat related skill system to the game. A example would be using a can opener to open a can of beans versus a fireaxe. This would also help to develop an economy and player made trade system.
Thanks :D I had some good laughs reading some of your comments on the topic... this is on the positive side of course :). Also could you give an example where leveling up your character in a sandbox, like DayZ, actually increases social interaction? The UI Wobo is looking at used to be the server admin UI for interacting with private servers as the admin. Ability to unlock a high impact or more options can also be the opposite of more interaction or added value.
I find this to be much more interesting as most people with a decent amount of advanced gear are afraid to lose it and just decide to shoot at you by default. And i do not think it is necessarily a bad thing that people become more cautious about getting into a gun fight, as this is what i imagine a zombie Apocalypse would be like. Try to not be offended easily.
What a great reason to make another character, eh? I'm not proposing that changes. Currently atm playing rust's xp skill system and it's interesting. I now finally understand how Some 2 months ago when we were heavy on base building I kept getting 2 logs from trees while my friend wouldn’t. Rest assured that my opinions have neither the intention nor the influence to "derail" your very serious PVE oriented gatherings. It arbitrarily divides all skills into two categories, and forces one to choose. Top job, I was wondering how I'd managed to repair something to pristine - thought it was another bug. Good shit, only being able to jog after a couple of minutes of running would be fucking boring. The tangent slope of the function could be used as a rough percentage scale of completion, with a slope of 1/100 generally understood to be the maximum practical point of mastery.
