The building itself is made up of about 30,000 sq ft, which includes a basement and two wings on either side. The hospital spans 30,000 square feet, two wings, and a basement. This eventually led to its final closure, as those under its care could not be controlled by the few people working there. The nuns would close around 10:00 p.m. Daily updated website dedicated to unexplained mysteries. The caretaker of the building has claimed that he has had it forensically tested, and the result? Nobody knows if that’s his real name, but the apparition seems to be the ghost of an addict who came to the back door of the hospital needing help. All kinds of accidents happened on these rigs.
Nobody seems to know how Stacy died, just that she’s very active on the property. In terms of activity? A man by the name of Doug Richards is supposedly among the spirits active at this location. During its time as a drug rehabilitation facility, a young man, some call him TJ, came to the establishment seeking help. The Yorktown Memorial Hospital was opened the year following its construction, its name paying homage to those from Yorktown who fought and lost their lives during WWII.
Blood spatter on the walls has remained there to this day. But I won’t philosophize on that too much here. Now – I know what you’ve been waiting for, very patiently, though all this backstory. Some of the buildings on Main St, though, are original to the settlement, dating back to the 1850s.
The Felician Sisters of the Roman Catholic Church are the ones that planned and built Yorktown Memorial Hospital. One of the owners of the property had the blood that is still on the walls of the boiler room tested by a forensic lab, and it came back as human blood.
Yorktown Memorial had considerable trouble keeping staff, and apparently the high employee-turn-over resulted in pretty poor standards of care. Originally, the hospital opened to help folks suffering from alcohol and drug abuse, but it expanded and had operating rooms, labor and delivery, etc. Dying too soon, dying due to negligence, dying under any extreme emotional distress seems to produce a lot of hauntings, and I think those people really need help – like the entity known as TJ that I discussed above. I feel that some of the folks that are still there would rather not be, which breaks my heart. After its shutdown in the 80s, it opened once again to become a drug rehabilitation center until 1988. Visitors have been choked, scratched, or rushed at, and it seems particularly bad for those who have tattoos.
In life, her favorite book was “The Poky Little Puppy” and she had the nuns read it to her often. From orbs to shadow men, nearly everything has been caught on camera at this haunted location. Although the property is now privately owned, you can take a guided tour for $25.
Yorktown Memorial Hospital was named for – at least according to the sources I found – the USS Yorktown, which was attacked and sunk during the Battle of Midway during WWII. Yorktown, a cute Texas small town, is home to back roads and old-timey buildings. The town of Yorktown, in DeWitt County, lies between San Antonio and the Gulf of Mexico. It was a catholic hospital and some of the nuns were even nurses themselves. The reputation of the hospital, despite being run by a rather large religious institution, hasn’t been the best.
People who have investigated and toured the hospital claim that the nuns can be violent. The land between San Antonio and the Gulf of Mexico is peppered with tiny, albeit simply adorable, towns. Many of his patients entering the operating rooms under his care alive, didn’t come back out the same way. The Felician Sisters of the Roman Catholic Church kept the hospital open until 1986, when another hospital opened up just a few miles away in Cuero, Texas, thus putting Memorial Hospital out of business. Dr. Norwierski was one of the main medical professionals at the facility.
Plus, many paranormal groups have captured EVPs of the highest quality. And last but certainly not least, I did read of a double murder rumored to have occurred on the hospital grounds – the boiler room, actually.
One sister has been seen in different spots around the building, and photos of her in her habit have been caught as well. Some of you ghost geeks out there may have seen televised investigations of Yorktown Memorial on various cable television networks. As one could probably guess, this definitely didn’t help with the bad energy of the place. a very scary EVP was captured on Ghost Adventures when Aaron Goodwin went down here by himself. In other versions of the account, it was a nurse and two patients. Some think that the dolls are a way for Stacy or spirits of other children to talk. During its time under the care of the nuns, the hospital was said to have lost over 500 patients in a six-year span. She especially targets men, and anyone that has tattoos on their body. Either the people who dropped off the body didn’t ring the bell or the nun didn’t hear the bell ring. The C. Eckhardt & Sons Building is almost 150 years old, standing to this day as the Yorktown Historical Museum. While each definitely has its own hometown charm, Yorktown, Texas, offers a bit extra.
Past the Yorktown Creek and a few fast food joints lies a foreboding structure. One night, a body was dropped off at the door.
As of today, it is one of the most active haunted locations in the United States. Main St. is a nice drive to hit up the older buildings of the area. Although Yorktown Memorial Hospital closed down in 1988, it was opened up again for a short amount of time as a drug rehabilitation center. In its 40 year history, the hospital has had about 2,000 deaths.

So with original structures dating back 150 years, I’m going to go ahead and say that the Yorktown Memorial Hospital probably isn’t the only active location in the town, but let’s focus on the hospital. Regarded by many as one of the most haunted locations in the U.S., Yorktown is one of our most popular ghost hunting venues! One of these was named Dr. Leon Norwierski. There’s not a lot of history about it, mostly because it’s always been an area with a relatively small population. It was a catholic hospital and some of the nuns were even nurses themselves. It seems the back door buzzer was broken, and nobody answered – and then they found this poor young man’s dead body on the back stoop the next day. Haunted Rooms America The hospital attracted many workers that were on those oil rigs. What’s up, fellow ghost-geeks? Dr. Leon Nowierski worked at Yorktown Memorial until his 90s – at which time he retired, and at the date of his retirement held the oldest medical license in Texas. He stabbed the woman several times, killing her. His shade is seen in the back hallway near the back door, where nobody came to help him. Hollering Woman in Woman Hollering Creek maintains that the woman is still grieving and searching for her murdered family along the banks, A post shared by (@laurenkubala), A post shared by (@thecraftyvoyager). Another widely seen apparition is the heart-breaking entity named “TJ”. Yorktown Memorial Hospital was named for – at least according to the sources I found – the USS Yorktown, which was attacked … Or should he? One article I found stated that Dr. Nowierski actually slit a patient’s throat when attempting a procedure on the thyroid. The story goes that there was a love triangle between a female employee, a co-worker, and a patient. The most widely reported apparition at Yorktown Memorial Hospital seems to be a little girl named Stacy. To this day, the Yorktown Memorial Hospital and the people who venture inside have been tormented by the spirits of this desolate building. Not all of them would - I realize that we all have free will, and believe it or not, that free will extends even after death. She seems to have been gifted a book of The Poky Little Puppy by Dr Nowierski himself, as the article I found said that a book with a note from the Doctor to the little girl had been found. The Felician Sisters, a group of nuns affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church (which has been present in Yorktown since its settlement) operated the hospital. This may or may not be true, but it sure is a testament to the amount of paranormal activity that occurs here. He died from a heroin overdose and is said to be one of the spirits that haunts the hospital. Let’s start with Dr Leon Nowierski, shall we? The Yorktown Memorial Hospital stands with its arched entrance untouched by brush, which has had its way with the rest of the property. Stacy, being the playful eight-year-old she was, is said to also roll a ball if one asks her to. The Yorktown Memorial Hospital was opened the year following its construction, its name paying homage to those from Yorktown who fought and lost their lives during WWII. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. There’s a sobering thought. What’s interesting about this place is that there is a balance of good and evil spirits. And that, dear ghost geeks, is why it is among the most highly toured and frequently investigated paranormal locations in Texas. He roams the halls, and one will know it’s him by his tall appearance and his white t-shirt and blue jeans outfit. An apparition of a nun in full habit has been seen many times in various areas of the hospital, and it’s said that people who visit who also have tattoos have been choked, scratched, or rushed presumably by the strict nuns. Creep it real until next time, my Ghost Texas friends…. It’s unclear how something like a throat-slitting could be an “accident,” but maybe he should get the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, it seems that this hospital saw more death than it did lives saved. Whoa. Speaking of employees, when it was a rehab facility, it was incredibly difficult to find and keep staff. By the time of his retirement, he held the oldest medical license in Texas. Today we’re exploring the haunted Yorktown Memorial Hospital in Yorktown, TX. Then again, all hospitals do.
It’s also known as a hotspot for capturing top-notch EVPs, with many sessions yielding clear voices. In the afterlife, Stacy frequents several specific areas of the hospital. Paranormal investigations can go in for a cool $500 (up to 10 investigators, a limited amount of time inside). Today, his apparition can sometimes be seen wandering the hall near the back door. They also captured the bottom half of a figure whilst using their infrared still camera. This place is LOADED with recorded activity and claims of paranormal occurrences.
