Sometimes a minimalist performance is what's needed, when all of the other characters are embroiled in crazy.

They should focus on fantasy because this is all this show is, a fantasy that two married people can cheat on their spouses, but their spouses are written to look they are the ones with the character flaws. Maybe it is done in the show for some purpose like tying everything all together with color or something, but for me, it is just disconcerting and distracting also. The IMD rating is also skewed because there are less than 1200 people that rated this show as 7.9.
