They had almost a pallet of them, must have just came in as the lady at the counter asked me were i got it from, she looked last week and there was none. I can't find them any in Victoria!! I found that if the D700 with grip was rotated 90 deg so that the AV and USB ports were facing down on the case, it will fit.

Minus the 2 I took. All dimensions in mm.External dimensions are 515L x 435D x 225H. Against the extreme cold of the arctic or the heat of battle, Pelican Cases have survived. I purchased some screw in eyelets and have mounted these to the front corners in about the middle of the case so it is balanced to carry with the lid towards me. 2 on the same side as the handle, then 1 on each side similar to a Pelican 1600.

Its really only the smaller primes that will store upright ( 50mms etc ), BTW : head down isle 5 go right to the end.

Day time is probably easier as you can easily see all the divides in the foam. Plan ahead - Research online & make a list, Shop Smart - Download our product finder app to minimise time spent in store. Might get the smaller one to house the 70-200mm f/2.8 lol. Talked to the guy at Carryitcases about this and he seemed to think it wasn't too much of a concern, but I am still worried. slightly less padding between the top and bottom of the 85mm lens than if I put it on it's side.

However, Pelican 1550 is the closest match for the interior size (except Pelican 1550 is 1 inch shorter in length). Since 1976 the answer has been the Pelican™ Protector Case.

Nice indeed, and you could probably fit a few primes upright in there if you need to as well. Anyone know if these are still available at any SA Bunnings stores ?

It's easy to carry. The back hinge plastic looks pretty brittle and I'm not sure it is strong enough to take abuse... just tell the check in staff that it's fragile and expensive.

Skip to content. Then I would get a real Pelican. I have a Storm im2500 for my 500, and would like to store a few other lenses in similar cases. Wollongong has about 10 of them @ $69 each. Right I have had my cases for a few weeks now, and now its time that Im going to pick the foam to make space for my kit.. before I give it a go though – does anyone have any tips as to what the best approach is.. whats the best way? I have a pelican as well. About 12 months ago I tried Clark Rubber but they have stopped stocking it. I would buy a real Pelican and a padlock and check it in if I needed to take camera gear on a plane. No their not that big. I know it is a lot more to carry, but when you outlay a bit of cash on this gear, I think it is a good investment. Definitely better quality.

The foam is rubbish. It also comes with a pressure relief valve.

I should also note the case comes with a big craftech sticker in the rectangle on the lid in the first pic. Can they fit the Pelican organiser in them? I've now seen the black ones in 2 stores and each time they were located on pallets near the front of the store and in the vicinity of the tool shop.

What you are using it for is sensible. it's too bl@@dy heavy empty! More expensive for less it would seem.

Plus if you bugger it up (as I think I have!! We are open for Business and Trading as per COVID-19 Guidelines. From the Pelican torture test videos, the case contents seems to be able to withstand impacts from quite a few stories high. Shop wherever you are, whenever you want. Next time I'm near Bunnings I'll look out for the black cases, I'm sure it will come in handy.

Think I've stuffed up in the 2nd case. bui-chevron-up.

Plastic was softer, lock holes were not steel reinforced. Pelican Protective Cases are watertight. A class or 2 above the Bunnings case. I think I would still prefer something with wheels for long trips with several stops along the way tho.

Just have to figure out how to get them back to Sydney.

It weighs just a little over 7kg as it is in the pic so it's not too heavy for heavy luggage. Not sure how to add them directly here – and I didn't take a lot of pictures of the seals and stuff because you can find them online, but just so you can see what space is inside and what you can fit in there.

Not a good idea. One of my cases is only usable now for storage of items that I don't intend on moving. Just ducked into Bunnings Forster today and picked up their case ($69) so I could compare it to the Pelican 1400 case I received yesty... Chalk & cheese, mate!

They are $69. I only now wish they had these cases with rollers, it would make it that much easier to cart around. what's you local Bunnings selling them for? To the extent permitted by law, Pelican's liability is limited to the case and not its contents or foam. To me, it sounds that if the case impacts on the face or back, there wouldn't be enough foam to absorb the shock. I was seriously contemplating buying one this week-end but whilst walking around town last night I saw a case made by Vanguard & bought that instead, it's little bit smaller than the one from Bunnings and more expensive but the price difference was easily justified by the higher quality (better foam, handle, catches, and the lid doesn't flex). Can't see myself paying $100+ for foam. I'm not a fan of the pick and pluck foam.

It would be fine to protect your gear in the back of a car, but it's not really suitable for carrying around as the handle is not comfortable even when the case is empty (the case is heavy by itself). I'm looking for something to carry 3 x constant lighting bulbs – at the moment they're just in polystyrene inserts and then boxed....would these Bunnings/other brand cases be appropriate with enough padding ?

They will be yellow and retail for $69. Don't bother asking an "employee" you'll only be met with a blank stare. Vanguard is a good option if you don't want to pay Pelican prices, without going to the low end of these Bunnings things.

I'm after something to store my gear in at home, the little one is getting curious and starting to open doors etc! I dont think a palletload would go that quickly, so I must have missed them.

Together they fit 2 bodies with grips, 2 flashes, a 70-200 f2.8 (in its own softcase), 24-70 f2.8 (in its own case), 20mm f2.8, 50 f1.4, a set of extension tubes, 2 speedlights, 3 batteries, 2 chargers, a remote shutter release & a few other knick knacks.
