Thirsting for revenge, Croc used his enhanced senses to zoom in on Bane's scent and interrupted the Santa Prisca villain's interrogation of Robin. He enjoyed "Seinfeld" with other inmates who favored the show (Hitman #3), formed a close friendship with environmentalist and kindred spirit Poison Ivy (Batman: Poison Ivy), played cards with the Ventriloquist and the Mad Hatter (Batman 80-Page Giant #2) and joined in the regular inmate uprisings (Batman: Arkham Asylum - Tales of Madness #1; The Creeper #7 and #8; Batman Villains Secret Files #1).
A crew that included Robin, the GCPD, Alfred Pennyworth and even the Penguin faced down the gang and the Boy Wonder managed to end the uprising by getting Croc to drop a car on himself (Robin #71 and #72). He also appears to be needlessly aggressive. His condition was so unusual that his birth caused his mother to die.
Batman eventually came to retrieve the antidote, but was attacked by Croc.

In short, Atavism is a regression of evolution. Within hours, the entire crew was killed when Grundy flew into a rage. Determined to make the mobs his own, Croc broke into prison and brutally slashed Falco to pieces. Just like a good reptile. Batman investigated the store robbery, and the trail led him right to Killer Croc's shelter. Batman traded blows with Croc for a third time without success.
When he escaped during the prison riot, Croc looked identical to his original version, the only difference being that he was wearing orange prison trousers with a large belt and a very large, padlock-shaped, buckle.
Croc was barefoot (although he had bandages that were wrapped around his feet), and also had them wrapped around his hands and wrists as well.
On the other, he revealed the plot to Croc (minus his own role), gambling that the opposing forces would take each other out and leave the field clear for him. Locked in combat, they fell into the rushing waters of the sewer and Croc vanished underwater once more. Croc was the villain of Gotham's Most Wanted Mission: Beneath the Surface in Batman: Arkham Knight.
Upon his release, he joined a traveling carnival where he wrestled alligators to the death under the moniker, Killer Croc. He threatens Batman that he was going to kill him after he acquired his scent. It appeared Croc kept his leftovers in the Bleake Island lighthouse, as there was a pile of bones and at least one slab of rotting meat on a hook.

Once Batman had arrested him in after a botched robbery in Resurrection Man #7, Croc settled into a comfortable routine at Arkham, his mental stability actually helped by the regular interaction with other people for the first time in years. Initial intake reports had him at 6' 8" tall. Croc didn't reveal this, but he revealed to Batman about the seven other assassins that were hired before he was knocked out, and was found by the GCPD. Jones walked amongst the alligators and addressed the crowd as King Croc.

Suggests possible metahuman healing ability gifted by his overall condition. Over the course of those 18 years, his body continued to evolve.
It was discovered that Croc could heal from minor injuries within moments, and that his regeneration abilities could even regrow entire limbs; proven by having Croc's hand sawed off. Croc's just an animal, and animals just need traps and the right bait.
With order restored in Gotham, Croc was again reduced to committing burglaries (Batman: Gotham Knights #3) interspersed with stays in Arkham. Eventually, he took it upon himself to begin taking out all those who opposed him.

Killer Croc, born Waylon Jones, is a criminal and nemesis of Batman. Lock him up. Batman, the Joker, Frank Boles, and another guard bypassing Killer Croc on their way to the Holding Cells in the Intensive Treatment Center.
They'd agreed to help Robin break the protection racket that the circus had been threatened by and took off in pursuit of one of the mob enforcers. Hugo Strange sent the TYGER Guards to lure him out of the sewers by using human meat. It was strongly implied if not outright stated that Croc's "evolution" was the result of an adaptive reaction to the extreme trauma he underwent from the experimentation that he was forced to undergo at Iron Heights.
