Recommendations include working slowly through each question, dressing for comfort and making doubly sure that you have answered the question completely before continuing onward. I am an ICU RN and also volunteer for a local ambulance as a Prehospital RN. And I think that it the point - the purpose of the certification exam is to validate your knowledge- and if in preparation you end the process stronger than you start, that is a sure measure of a professional. If you meant which had more practice benefit, my answer is still neither, lol. BCEN recognizes there are accredited CE programs, which consist of multiple lectures, such as national/regional symposiums, or review courses. Does anyone have any insight/recommendations?

Not too many med specific's, but I think the exam is a "thinking test", so recall of specific facts is less important than being able to recognize/intervene in clinical presentations and implement/revise care of the same patient. I can't remember how many hours of work experience are required to be elligable to take the test but it seems by the time people have worked 2 years in the ICU or ER they are more than elligable. The CFRN exam is harder. BCEN cannot accept EMT or paramedic contact hours approved only by an EMS provider such as The Commission on Accreditation of Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE). Renewing your specialty certification demonstrates commitment to your patients and career through the lifelong learning required to keep the certification you worked so hard to achieve.
