When commander Bowman vented all the air from MARS-1, the pressure difference blew pieces of glass and debris into space and should have blown all free floating objects out into space as well.

When the biologist guy talks about writing code for DNA he names the four codes as A, G, T, P, when they are actually A, G, T, C. The space crew dudes can breathe on Mars because of these insects that eat algae and exhale oxygen. This movie isn’t an award winner but it’s quite good especially for its time.

But I don't care. To like that kind of story is to like this kind of movie. Why are they watching the return signal on a giant oscilloscope, where the dits and dahs are translated into horizontal lines: 3 lines on a black background for 3 dits, etc. All in all, what started as an interesting movie about interplanetary communication just fell apart.
I’ve highlighted the display in Figure 6. Maybe someone could help me with these. Red Planet is airless. The plot was not great, but good, and I thought the pacing was just fine. Moss -- in her first big role since "The Matrix" -- is the main reason to see Red Planet, a badly written and visually scenic space opus. He reveals who he is to Cronyn, but tells him that the Martians never answered him; it was all a plot on his part to destabilize and destroy the whole world. Some unrealistic science facts.. yeah.. but also some part of it IS realistic and fun to watch, I especially like the ship design how they actually make an artificial intelligence and make it work with G-forces, oh well. I've been exploring its usages for scoring Government Takeovers and Project Beales. Photography is pretty good, the story is 2001 lite, but very well done. It is more that they are very energetic and playful. In every view of the front of Mars 1, you can clearly see the landing pod still attached, even when it's on Mars' surface. In an enclosed space such as a space ship the dust would be constantly filtered out. Hey Steve,
Wells, for some inspiration, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Vincent Price: the actors who defined a genre. Did you ever watch a movie (or read a book) that was going along fine, then there was a “What the Heck?” moment, then the whole rest of the movie (or book) just flabbergasts you and ticks you off?
It has a fine cast, excellent production values, mostly credible science, an intriguing and suspenseful plot mixed with action that is not for its own sake, a theme of survival and accomplishment in a bleak universe that is very serious, and some credible romance at the end. Overall a much more entertaining movie than the reputation would indicate. It is also stated that AMEE is on loan from the marines.
This is a classic, right up there with "The Fifth Element", watchable again and again over the years. Again, why? Oh, I had a girlfriend named Faith. My question is, before giving her to the crew of Mars-1, why didn't the marines remove the the military part of her programming? 300 metres would've been a clearer way to phrase this. I thought that since they are as advanced as they are, they may have built that ice structure on mars for the human observers. This means you can reshare it with very clear and obvious credit to the creator, and you cannot modify or use it for any reason at all unless the creator says it's okay. The implications abound that ravens, wolves, rats, and cops are in league with Flagg (who is presumed to be the devil or acting on his behalf); even technology is–with the exception of the power and water of Boulder, Colorado, not a godly thing. It makes zero sense for Bowman to put him on the landing craft in the middle of a mechanical systems emergency on Mars 1 and further jeopardize all of their abilities to return home safely. Gravity on Mars is much weaker than shown in the film. In some shots, the MEV is docked at the front of the spacecraft. Ah, with the context of the sentence I surmise that bouncers is a slang name humans have given to a particular native Martian species. We should be grateful that a movie like this was made. Also, I am not an english native but I prefer to read books in english, this way i get the stylistic undertones. Secondly, the bad science—even for 1952: somehow that “valve” is some kind of quartz crystal pressurized in liquid hydrogen to improve the “acoustics” of the signal—huh?

Though the nematodes eat the algae that was sent from Earth, it's impossible that they are the only life on Mars and previously had nothing to eat. He shows a notebook with lists of everything Cronyn has sent and received. Cronyn tells him they’ll find out more when they establish real communication. But why does it have to be one or the other? Anytime I see a great disparity between the user scores and the critics', I know that either Metacritic isn't counting the latter fairly (which often happens) or the users have seen the worth of a movie the critics were blind to. So in the old movie Red Planet Mars the martians melt down a huge amount of ice in a short amount of time? ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. Could have been better, but decent fare for what it is. In space there is no down, so objects could just as easily fall up or to the side. Linda surreptitiously releases the hydrogen, and–just before Calder shoots his gun (therefore blowing up the lab and the Cronyns, and himself to boot–we see a new message coming through the oscilloscope. Cronyn assures her that Vesuvius won’t boil over thanks to anything they’re doing.
A leaden, skimpily plotted space-age Outward Bound adventure with vague allegorical aspirations that remain entirely unrealized. In the following shot, when the international space station is shown with a shuttle approaching, the US coastline is correct.
Flagg is a supernatural villain (who shows up in other books), but God himself is telling “Mother Abagail” what to do, and is the reason that Stu Redman, Larry, and Glenn are sent to be blown up with Flagg & crowd (Stu, because he’s Fran’s boyfriend, is allowed to live). RETRO REVIEW: RED PLANET MARS (Spoilers!) It is clearly night, so Mars 1 should be in range. When this happens Bowman and the various floating objects immediately fall "down" to the floor. We then cut to somewhere high in the Andes, and we find that Franz Calder (Berghof) has hidden himself in a hut where he is constructing a virtual duplicate of Cronyn’s machine using his own valve.
