I fudged through that course and that section of FAR. Participate in discussions and get candid, authentic advice from the world’s largest college forum. When I studied these topics for the CPA exams, they were much easier for me, which probably means I picked up a couple things from that horrible course even though I thought all I managed to do was pass it. Advanced and Tax, which I took on the same days.
Intermediate Accounting II was pretty awful. Cost accounting was the worst for me because I'd never worked in manufacturing and couldn't visualize how it was applied.
Those days sucked.
I didn't give myself anywhere near the time needed to sort through that nightmare.

Tax. Probably because for me the material felt very different than any of the other accounting classes I had to take.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this. Governmental Accounting was the toughest for me. I'm with Lilla, advanced accounting for HORRIBLE as an online class. It's the worst when your only option is to take a crappy professor. Just keep the basic accounting principles in mind, and intermediate is no more difficult than lower division stuff. Several thoughts found their way into my head.

Best excuse for laziness ever. I studied my butt off and it ended up paying off as I ended up doing very very well in the course. Like government accounting – it's not that complex, but it's different from everything you've been taught for the last 4 years, so it can be hard to just quickly digest while you're in the middle of a college course. Intermediate and Cost Acctg were hard for me because it was my first semester back in school in over 10 years so I didn't remember anything! How I stopped failing my accounting exams and went from having a failing grade in my Intermediate Accounting class to scoring an A on the final.
Also since I was taking it online and basically if I asked my professor/mentor any question the answer was “If I give you any additional information that would be unfair to the other students”, so I had only my textbook to work from.
