I know it’s an extra step so I only do it when rigging at home, it wont glide through the guides quite as well and there is a diameter of braid to leader to keep in mind but seems to work well. It’s only 55% as strong as the FG knot because it doesn’t spread the load as well as FG knot does. Now make a half hitch with the tag of the braid around the leader and the braid and pull it up nice and tight. You guys are funny in how many knots you use for your fishing I use 3 knots and they never fail me in that they catch fish #1 the loop knot for all my plastic baits #2 the Palomar for my baits that need a snug fitting knot and #3 the improved Albright very easy and fast to tie for my leader to line connections why bother with a bunch of knots are you a navy boatswains mate or an angler? Doubling the line will certainly add some more strength, but I’d be shocked it if would be able to make up for such a large gap in strength relative to the FG knot.
