Even in its most accurate Warm colour temperature preset, the Kogan 27” LED monitor is not especially colour-accurate. Reds a little too saturated but not a big deal. Similar screens we’ve had the pleasure of reviewing here at EFTM retail for anywhere between $1,500 and $3,500 – so to see Kogan with such a phenomenal product at such a reasonable price is a breath of fresh air. Contrast at the mid-point of 50 is nearly perfect, although lowering it to around 40 does bring up a little more detail in dark areas at the cost of a tiny amount of overall highlight brightness. Honestly it's been one of the best purchases I've made for my setup. A high quality LG LCD panel and bright LED edge-lighting make up for a design that’s a little too plasticky. As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between. If Kogan uses those shitty Korean monitors where it's basically guaranteed to have dead pixels, I don't think I could ever be tempted. I’ve been using the monitor for over a month now and have yet to be remotely bothered by stretching. Often with top manufactures if there is over X percentage of a batch that is bad they dump the whole batch, so Kogan and similar are happy to accept the working examples from the bad batch and sell them on the cheap. For anyone looking into the ‘Super Ultrawide’ monitor market, this gem by Kogan has to make the shortlist. Ultimately this laptop has achieved everything I would hope for in a laptop for work, while fitting that into a form factor and weight that is remarkable.
